I want to talk about something that seems obvious, but I think is unused: what happens when a guest declines.
Right now, you probably ask them to leave a note, and a standard decline email goes out with the system’s default language.
That’s all fine. But the moment could do more.
What could a decline do for your relationship with that contact, for your CRM, or for how you plan your next event?
Here’s one idea I’ve been sitting with.
If you’re invite-only but you’d still welcome someone from their team, let the guest nominate a colleague right in the decline flow. Just ask: “Would you like to nominate someone to take your place?”
I’ll go through a few more ideas at Office Hours today at 2pm ET, like letting guests update their preferences with you.
Simple idea, but maybe worth trying on your next event? Curious what you think.
